| Canary Wharf Contractors Limited (CWCL) has awarded the Contractor of the Project accolade to Irvine Whitlock for its work during the shell and core construction of 25 Bank Street. In June 2002 the auditing of trade contractors by CWCL projects became an integral part of the management system to instil accountability for Health and Safety performance. The audits looked at various aspects of the trade contractors’ scope of works and measured their performances against their legal obligations, their own Management procedures, compliance with CWCL safety procedures and their actual site activities. The auditing revolves around a three-month period in which the above aspects are measured and the three companies with the highest score are recognised by way of cash reward. In addition at the end of the Project all of the results are reviewed and the contractor with the overall highest score receives the accolade of Trade Contractor of the Project and a reward of £4,000 to be distributed amongst their workforce. Irvine Whitlock, which receives the Contractor of the Project award
for 25 Bank Street, consistently achieved a high score as a reflection
of its team’s actual performance on site. During the twelve-month
period of June 2002 to May 2003 it achieved a total of 97.59%. Cormac MacCrann, Director of Construction at CWCL, said: |
