| A new transport initiative will be launched at Canary Wharf on 1st March. In consultation with London Pedicabs Ltd, Canary Wharf Group has identified the benefits of an intermediate local transport service to take people round the estate. Pedicabs are the latest development around the world offering a sustainable and environmentally friendly transport and nippy way to get around. The pedicabs will be travelling a circuit from the Four Seasons Hotel at Westferry Circus via Canada Square and back again and you can get on or off at any point along the route. The pedicabs can accommodate up to three people and the service is free during a one-month trial period from March 1st. The cost after the first month will depend on how many people use the service but the plans are for it to continue to be free. The service will run Mondays to Fridays between 7.45am until 7.00pm during the trial period. Pedicabs are a regular sight in the West End due to their advantages in cutting the amount of vehicles on the road and reducing vehicle emissions. The initiative to bring the service to Canary Wharf is in conjunction with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and its good going campaign, which serves to reduce car use in favour of other sustainable forms of transport. The pedicab drivers are fully insured, trained in road usage and will have a good knowledge of the local area. Gay Harrington, Local Business Liaison Manager at Canary Wharf, said: For further information and to give feedback on the service please go to www.londonpedicabs.com/survey |
