Canary Wharf Contractors Limited (CWCL) today awarded the Contractor of the Project accolade to Irvine Whitlock for its work during the shell and core construction of 25 Bank Street. John Whitlock, Construction Director, was presented with £4,000 by Cormac MacCrann, Director of Construction and Safety at CWCL. In his speech, John announced that Irvine Whitlock would be matching the amount awarded by CWCL to distribute to its workforce. In June 2002 the auditing of trade contractors by CWCL projects became an integral part of the management system to instil accountability for Health and Safety performance. The audits looked at various aspects of the trade contractors’ scope of works and measured their performances against their legal obligations, their own Management procedures, compliance with CWCL safety procedures and their actual site activities. The auditing revolves around a three-month period in which the above
aspects are measured and the three companies with the highest score
are recognised by way of cash reward. In addition at the end of the
Project all of the results are reviewed and the contractor with the
overall highest score receives the accolade of Trade Contractor of the
Project and a reward of £4,000. Cormac MacCrann, said: |
