CANARY WHARF HOLDS HEALTH & SAFETY AWARENESS DAY
Canary Wharf Group is hosting a day of presentations and demonstrations aimed at the workplace health & safety with the theme of ‘Building in Safety to Workplace Culture’ on 8th November. The initiative aims to raise awareness of health and safety issues that are vital to building a safer working environment. Employees at Canary Wharf, tenants and local businesses are invited to attend.

The Safety Day is in response to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) European Safety Week which is being held between 18th – 22nd October. The day of events hopes to encourage staff at all levels to build safety into their working cultures, not only to the management systems.

The presentations include talks on ‘Workstation Ergonomics’ given by Posturite Ltd, ‘Lifting Equipment’ given by OCS Limited, ‘Asbestos’ given by EMS, a presentation of failed equipment given by Allianz Cornhill and ‘Management Systems’ given by Alan A.Griffin Associates. The presenting companies are all sub-contractors of Canary Wharf Group.

Paul Simpson, Health & Safety Advisor at Canary Wharf Management Limited, said,

“We have held two very successful series of events in 2003 and 2002 and we didn’t want this year to pass without making a contribution. Safety Awareness Day is a great opportunity for us to showcase what we do to promote a safer working environment for all of our employees and also to encourage others to fully embrace our theme of Building in Safety. It should be more than just a buzz word – it should be fully integrated within everyone’s working lives.”
